*** REMASTERED AND RE-RELEASED 10/21/2019 ***
This was the first Farmacyde song ever written and it has many, many battle scars. After losing the original stem files...twice...AND an accidental deletion from Bandcamp recently I had considered just rewriting and rerecording everything again...and I still might. However for sentimental and other reasons I am very attached to the original recording and wanted especially to use it for this release.
This song was written as an outlet for my anger, pain and frustration during the time when my father was in the hospital fighting a terminal condition. The amp profiles I used for the guitars on it were seriously low quality and were originally something I just used to write demo songs and riffs for Jason (the guitarist in my other band 'Caught') to use in our songs if he liked them. They were never intended to be on anything that actually got released. But as I continued to sink deeper into the negativity of the situation I began to really like how they felt cold and industrial...almost alien. To me, it seemed a perfect tonal analogy for things.
The song itself is about the healthcare system and some of the problems it caused in my family; which makes every single note of it pure raw emotion. It was written at the very peak of my anger and served as the door I used to let the demons I had inside out...which is why it opens up with the chant "Open your mind...Open your mind...", in preparation of the expulsion. It worked, and this song became the vessel with which I was able to imprison all of my demons...at least the ones related to this issue...
My dad passed not too long after the original release date of July 10, 2019 but he lives on in me and the rest of my family. He also lives on in Farmacyde music. He inspired the very first song, as well as helped inspire me to continue the project.
When I accidentally deleted the original upload here on Bandcamp I was numb, but after some reflection I took it as a sign to re-upload it with special purpose. So I remastered the original WAV file (I do still have that) and completely recreated the artwork.
My dad was always very adamant about giving to various charities, but one of his absolute favorites was St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. So, in honor of my father, I have re-uploaded Murk and all of the proceeds will be donated to them.
This song appears on the self-titled Farmacyde EP released December 07, 2018 and to this date is the only Farmacyde song that contains vocals. The vocals on this song were done freestyle and are not meant to be deciphered, just felt.
Thank you and have a wonderful day,
Vince
